Into 2017 We Go

Into 2017 We Go

A very Happy New Year to everyone!

As the calendar turns over to another year (2017). Most people start thinking about what they did or didn’t do in the past year and what they would like the New Year to bring.

What a difference a year makes!

At the beginning of 2016 we were both holding down full-time jobs, living in our self-built home and enjoying our comfortable lifestyle. By the end of 2016 we no longer have jobs, are living in a lovely studio in the bottom of a friend’s garden and are getting ready to move to the other side of the world to volunteer.
It was great to spend Christmas surrounded by our family, keeping some of our silly traditions going (is it just us filling stockings for adult children and their partners, with them all willing to wear their presents on Christmas day?),  and making new ones.

It has also been a really busy time organising logistics in preparation for shipping some of our personal possessions to South Africa, and selling our cars etc. We haven’t had much time to relax. But are grateful for the quality time we have spent with family and our many friends.
Understandably, we are both excited and petrified in equal measure about what 2017 will bring and how God is going to use us in a very different place but we are absolutely sure about His call on our lives. What will our blog be on the 1st of January 2018?
‘I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.’
Philippians 3: 13-14 (The Message)
